The Karunya Institute of Technology  and Sciences established as an Engineering College in 1986 became the first Autonomous College in 2000 and conferred Deemed University staus by UGC in 2004. The Institute is accredited by NAAC and NBA (Engineering Programmes), NABL (Laboratories) and is ranked within 100 by NIRF of MHRD, Government of India. The Deemed University is located in Coimbatore in a campus of 750 acres in the lap of the Western Ghats with all modern infrastructure facilities. There are around 9000 students and faculty living in the campus of this fully residential institution with minority status. The programmes at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels are offered in the areas of Core and circuit engineering branches, Biotechnology, Food Processing Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture, Management, Physical Sciences, Commerce and Social Sciences. The KITS has collaborations with institutions of higher education in Israel like, Technion, Hebrew University, Ben-Gurian University, Bar-Ilan University and Volcani Institute. It also has links with RWTH - Aaachen, Technical University of Berlin, Brandenburg University, University of Saskatchewan and University of Milwaukee, etc. The University stands for academic excellence and value inculcation among its student community.
